Gathered Heights
“Gathered Heights” is a personal exploration of my relationship with climbing; a passion deeply rooted in my childhood connection to nature. What began as playful afternoons building dens and climbing trees has evolved into a lifelong pursuit of adventure and communion with the outdoors. This project reflects that journey.
Now, as I travel across the UK, from the gritstone edges of the Peak District to the mountain crags of Snowdonia, climbing has become both a physical challenge and a spiritual practice. Whether with close friends or kindred strangers, each day offers shared moments of risk, reflection, and joy.
The UK’s rock-climbing culture is steeped in history and shaped by a strong sense of tradition, self-reliance, and respect for the land. In this body of work, I document not just the climbs themselves, but the quiet moments in between, the approaches, the waiting, the light shifting across the landscape.
The images aim to capture the magical essence of outdoor climbing, the balance of solitude and connection, and to honour the personal and collective experiences that unfold within the landscape.
